10 Reasons the Forester Is the Perfect Vehicle

October 21st, 2022 by

Are you searching for the ideal family vehicle, one that can handle normal driving, last-minute travel plans, and the city and suburban streets of Woodbridge, New Jersey, which we like to call home? The compact Subaru Forester crossover SUV is a popular choice among drivers around the world, and righteously so. It was one of the first of its kind, a hatchback wagon designed to be SUV-tough yet car easy. Since its entry into Subaru’s lineup for the 1998 model year, the Forester has continued to improve, progressively stealing the hearts of more drivers with each upgrade.

As your Woodbridge Subaru Forester dealer, we know both the area and the model, and we know that you can’t get a much better vehicle for driving around our area. To prove it to you, we have put together ten reasons why we think the Subaru Forester is the perfect vehicle.

#1: Let’s Start With the Obvious: The Subaru Badging

You can’t deny the fact that Subaru vehicles are popular. The brand is known for designing practical and useful vehicles that might not boast elegance and luxury but reign supreme in many other aspects. Subaru commits to making a positive impact on the world, its communities, and the people that make the world worth living in.

With that commitment, Subaru delivers a line of vehicles that can appeal to any driver, including the family-favorite Forester. More importantly, the brand delivers a promise to love the earth, care for and help communities, their people, and their pets, and a promise to love making learning a priority all through the Subaru Love Promise. The Love Promise is Subaru’s vision of making the world we live in the best it can be through more than just donations, but with its actions and everyone’s interactions with Subaru. How can you not be drawn to a brand with such love and respect?

#2: The Forester Boasts Excellent Safety Ratings

No matter what vehicle might spark your interest, we know that keeping your family safe out on the road will always be your number one priority. The Subaru Forester does exactly that. The 2022 Subaru Forester’s IIHS Top Safety Pick+ award marks its 16th straight year of earning an IIHS Top Safety Pick. We’re sure that having an extra set of eyes keeping watch on the road and assistance steering and braking to help you avoid collisions with the Forester’s standard EyeSight Driver Assist Technology has something to do with its numerous safety awards from the IIHS. It also received the highest five-star overall crash ratings from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) since 2014. If you want our opinion, you can’t get much better than that.

#3: Impressive Visibility Right From the Driver’s Seat

Although the tall, boxy design of the Subaru Forester might not seem all that appealing to some, its height is a blessing for drivers and passengers alike that reach the six-foot mark. However, the Forester’s elevated design and overall exterior engineering also provide drivers of all statures the best visibility while out on the road, according to drivers around the world. The Subaru Forester has fewer blind spots with its large windshield and side windows, minimal obstructions from head restraints, and its thin roof pillars. Add in a moonroof, and you might even feel like you’re driving in a glass box with how much of the outside you’ll see from the driver’s seat.

#4: You Can Drive With Confidence With Permanent All-Wheel Drive

Most SUVs today offer all-wheel drive as an option for an additional cost. With unpredictable New Jersey weather, it’s good to know that you can count on your vehicle to help you stay on the road. Unlike most all-wheel drive systems that disengage either the front or rear axle with desirable road conditions to improve fuel economy and only deliver power to all four wheels when slippage is detected, Subaru’s Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive delivers power to all four wheels all the time. This means that whether it’s a hot, clear sunny day with perfect pavement conditions or a snowy, freezing cold 20°F Woodbridge January morning commute, you can head out on the road with a little more confidence, knowing you’ll be driving in all-wheel drive every time with the Subaru Forester.

#5: Nothing Beats the Performance of a Subaru Boxer Engine

Most vehicles are powered by internal combustion engines that are either inline or V-type, depending on cylinder configuration. Subaru vehicles, including the Forester, are equipped with a less common Boxer engine. It has a flat shape and is positioned lower in the vehicle than other engines resulting in a lower center of gravity, delivering exceptional balance, handling, and smooth acceleration. Additionally, the lower position of the Boxer engine provides an added sense of safety since, in the incident of a collision, if the engine enters the cabin space, the Boxer engine would intrude through the footwell rather than the main compartment like others would, resulting in less severe injuries. It’s a two-for-one deal with the Subaru Boxer engine, which sounds good to us.

#6: The Forester Delivers Versatile Power & Efficiency

One thing drivers love about the Subaru Forester is its versatile performance. Not only can you make it through any weather and road conditions down lesser traveled roads with its all-wheel drive, plus expect impressive handling everywhere you turn with the Boxer engine, but you can also expect the perfect amount of power for towing the family’s camper or boat. All that is blended with a fuel economy that allows you to stress less about the unpredictability of fuel costs. Newer Foresters, including the 2022 and 2023 Forester, carry the 2.5-liter Boxer-4 under the hood delivering 182 hp and 176 lb-ft of torque to tow up to 3,000 pounds. You’ll see an estimated 26 MPG in the city and 33 MPG on the highway.

#7: Plenty of Room for Everyone & Everything

Besides ample headspace, the Subaru Forester has a spacious interior for whoever and whatever you want to bring on the road with you. Through the years, the Forester has grown significantly, with its most recent 2022 and 2023 models providing all five of its potential passengers plenty of leg room to stretch out, relax, and enjoy the ride. Plus, for models without the moonroof, you’ll have up to 28.9 cu.ft. of storage space behind the rear seat and 74.2 cu.ft. with the rear seats folded down for whatever gear you need for you and your family’s adventures.

#8: Can’t Fit It in the Cabin Space? No Problem!

As spacious as the Subaru Forester might be if you happen to need more room, even with the abundance of interior cubbies and ample cargo volume, the Forester has numerous exterior storage solution accessories that you can choose from. How about a bike carrier hitch with a two-bike capacity? Or a roof rack, basket, or box? Maybe you need a rack for transporting your skis, snowboards, or kayaks. No matter what you need to bring with you on your travels, the Subaru Forester can make it happen, even if it doesn’t fit inside the cabin with you.

#9: Simply Designed for Practicality, Satisfaction, & Longevity

The Subaru Forester might not be styled with the richest materials to classify it as a luxury SUV, but if all you’re looking for is a vehicle that can accommodate your family’s need for comfort, convenience, and storage, plus last for many miles, the Forester is all you will need. For 2022 it’s still one of the few vehicles offering a standard CD player rather than just Bluetooth and streaming options, but every Forester still provides modern connectivity with standard wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capability along with Bluetooth for hands-free calls and streaming. It even has standard onboard WiFi to keep the kids entertained with their favorite games or movies. However, what you don’t see in many other vehicles, which is new to even the Forester for 2022, is an available gesture-controlled HVAC system that allows you to adjust the temperature inside the vehicle with a wave of your hand instead of a push of a button or turn of a knob. Pretty nifty right?

The Subaru Forester is built for the long haul. In the last ten years, 97% of the Foresters sold are still racking up the miles on roads around the world. This longevity is one of the reasons why the Forester has held its value better than its competitors for nearly a decade.

#10: Did We Mention the Subaru Forester’s Manageable Prices?

The Subaru Forester’s price is what makes this SUV worth it. Not only do you get a spacious SUV with versatile performance and capabilities for traveling in any weather and on any road, but this perfect vehicle comes at an unbeatable price that can fit into any budget. Yes, that includes comfortable seating and the right amount of interior amenities to satisfy you and your passengers’ comfort, convenience, and connectivity needs.
